I wrote about the pleasant intersection of beer and guns at the Dancing Bear Pub in Waco, Texas yesterday. And I previously wrote about my visit to the impressive Texas Rangers Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco.
What I didn’t mention about the Texas Ranger Museum before was some interesting finds in gift shop. Red solo cups, shot glasses, and plastic flasks.
I’m no teetotaler, but these items do trigger my prudish impulses. For some reason — perhaps all of the bad things that happen in our society when people abuse alcohol — I’m not totally comfortable with the branding of shot glasses, flasks, and solo cups with the Texas Rangers Museum imprimatur.

Reblogged this on Brittius and commented:
Guns.., Alcohol.., what, no cigarettes, potato chips, or pizza?! 🙂

Though you have to admit the shot glasses with the little six-shooter and gun belt are interesting trinkets.

I don’t collect shotglasses, but if I did this would be a prized item in the collection.

You might want to look at “shot glass collectors” as a phenomenon — I own two: an antique French cut-glass one with a four-leaf clover embedded in the base and a modern slim, mass-produced one I received from a friend. Shot glasses (like spoons) can be decorated and serve as mementos of travel, etc.
