There are lots of interesting ways of depicting the current status of concealed carry laws in the United States, and especially the dramatic expansion of “shall-issue” or “right-to-carry” laws during the recent period of liberalization.
I re-posted one recently that was created by Rob Vance and published by David Kopel on Volokh Conspiracy. I have also always liked the one created by Jeff Dege on Radical Gun Nuttery, because it uses a moving graphic to depict the spread of right-to-carry laws. (I recently learned that the one Vance created expanded on Dege’s original work.)
Most recently I saw a map on Wikipedia’s entry for “concealed carry in the United States” (updated in January 2015) which looks correct as far as I understand the law in the 50 states. As you can see, it shows alot of green and not much red, just making the same point in a different way.
